Why Am I Running For Mayor?

I am running for mayor because I believe Red Deer can be better!

The opportunity to help build, and be part of, a strong team on city council and to encourage the important work of the city excites me. I am a relationship builder.

I believe we make the best decisions when we work together. Communicating with citizens about the issues before us is critical. Within our community, and within the council, it is important to establish an environment that welcomes ideas, allows for different perspectives, and encourages open and honest communication.

As a member of the council, I will work hard to find a healthy balance between meeting the needs of our city today and preparing for our city’s future.

Having served for 4 terms (13 years), I understand the roles and responsibilities of the mayor and council. I understand the complexity and scope of city operations.

I have the skills and experience to make a difference. I want to help make Red Deer a better place to live for everyone in our city.

I will lead the charge on championing Red Deer and collaborating with our municipal, provincial, and federal partners to ensure that Red Deer is not left behind.
Advocating for the needs of our city is important work.

Safety

Red Deer must be safe, vibrant, and open for business. Band-aid solutions are not good investments.

Fiscal Responsibility

The City must focus on increasing growth, monitoring spending, and maintaining our assets. Financial stewardship requires difficult conversations and a realistic, balanced, transparent approach.

Seeing Opportunities and Seizing Them

It’s time for boldness and innovation to foster economic and cultural growth. Staying in neutral is not an option.

Housing and Homelessness

We cannot leave people unhoused and vulnerable on the streets. Nor can we ignore the concerns of businesses and residents. Red Deer deserves solutions.
